A place I call my own

I am originally from Haiti but landed in Charlevoix at the age of 3. My family owns an outfitter and a campground. I thus grew up in this environment where I worked with my grand-parents, my mom, uncle and aunts. It is a true family business! It is here that I discovered my passion for tourism and customer service. That is what courses through my veins.

That is probably why I work with visitors to the region. After studying catering and wine stewardship, I became head waiter at the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu in La Malbaie, a position I held for 17 years while acting as consultant wine steward for a wine and spirit import agency. I acquired precious hotel experience at Le Manoir Richelieu and had the opportunity to build my catering expertise. Some of my colleagues became my mentors. I now supervise the catering and bar operations at the Casino de Charlevoix, across from the hotel. Opportunity knocked and I decided to try my luck.

People often think of a casino as a gambling place only, but I was pleasantly surprised to realize that it also offers unparalleled entertainment. You will find everything under one roof. Catering, bars, gaming, shows in addition to the awesome Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu. We want to tell a story to our visitors and that in turn they tell their stories. We want to provide them with an unforgettable experience. The personnel’s human kindness and commitment make the Casino de Charlevoix quite unique. The people that work here make all the difference. They are entertainment specialists!

I have a very soft spot for the region’s gastronomy. I am amazed that we are self-sufficient as we can create a complete meal exclusively with products from Charlevoix. Food, beer, spirit and wine, the diversity and quality of our products made our enviable reputation. It truly is astonishing! It is so easy for us to talk about our region, its history, and imposing landscapes.

The region’s natural beauty is ever present, between river and mountains, as a lover of outdoor activities I am blessed with all the possibilities: snowboarding, fishing and hiking.

However if you need a moment to yourself, walk for a kilometer and you’ll feel alone in the world. People visiting here are seeking this freedom we so enjoy.

I sometimes forget how spectacular the landscapes where I live are and then, I stop by the river and time stands still; I realize that I live here and just can’t believe my luck. « This region never ceases to amaze me and fills me with wonderment. »
