Saint-Urbain, Saint-Hilarion, Saint-Aimé-des-Lacs, Sainte-Agnès, Notre-Dame-des-Monts, Clermont… Many charming villages in Charlevoix’s backcountry have names with religious connotations—a sign of the region’s Catholic heritage. The Mountain sector is surrounded by some of the tallest peaks in the Canadian Shield. The impressive topography—shaped by a meteorite falling to Earth 450 million years ago—is truly a sight to behold, with a magnetic energy that transcends time. Those who scale these mountains are rewarded with jaw-dropping panoramas and, if they time it right, sunsets that will leave them speechless. Captivated by such a glorious show, visitors can let their worries melt away with every breath, leaving them feeling refreshed and reinvigorated.
