About
The trail du Dôme, with its 7.8 km of intermediate level path represents a nice challenge for a one-day hike at the heart of the Traversée de Charlevoix. Surrounded by summits reaching up to 1000 meters, the trail will take you through various ecosystems.
Du Dôme trail is situated in a sector well-known among rock-climbing amateurs, in summer or wintertime. Easily accessible year-round from route 381, du Dôme trail offers a nice hiking alternative. A sumptuous alpine décor awaits you, with the bonus of a view on Baie-Saint-Paul and the St. Lawrence estuary. The climb on a winding path introduces the hiker to a regenerating forest that was destroyed by a fire in 1991.
Access
From Baie-Saint-Paul, follow Route 138 East, then Route 381 North to kilometer 10.6, the welcoming station, a white house located behind the old museum. The trail begins at kilometer 23,2 of Route 381, North of the village of Saint-Urbain, du Dôme parking lot is 2 km to the North of Mont du Lac-des-Cygnes. Du Dôme trail starts from the parking lot and passes in front of the chalet l’Eudore.
Additional information
- Registration at the welcoming area of the Traversée de Charlevoix is compulsory before going on hiking. Outside of opening hours, self-recording and autoperception terminals are present at the beginning of the trail;
- During the hunting season, it is mandatory to wear the orange vest and cap.
