Les Moulins de l’Isle-aux-Coudres

About

Visit an exceptional site gathering in one place a watermill and a nearby windmill admirably restored. Tradition lives on as the miller grinds wheat and we may attend a demonstration of wheat and buckwheat being ground into flour at the watermill. You may purchase freshly stone-ground flour at the souvenir shop or on Charlevoix en ligne Website.

Activities

  • The only site of its kind in Canada, this museum houses a fully functional watermill (1825) and windmill (1836), as well as a miller’s residence. Tradition lives on with the authentic millstones used to grind wheat and buckwheat into flour at the watermill, which visitors may purchase at the boutique.

  • Les Moulins’ boutique carries a line of hand-milled flours, souvenirs and local delicacies.

We stopped at the Moulins to relax and to appreciate the tranquility of the place and the view of the mill, still in operation. We didn't have time for a tour, but learned a lot from talking with the...
