About

The Centre écologique de Port-au-Saumon, central area of the Charlevoix Biosphere Reserve, enjoys an exceptional site of nearly one hundred hectares along the St. Lawrence river. CÉPAS is recognized as a thematic center of the Saguenay-Saint-Lawrence Marine Park in addition to being a partner of the Charlevoix GeoParc. Part of the CÉPAS territory has been developed into interpretive trails for the public fond of ecotourism. The center offers educational activities related to terrestrial and marine ecosystems.

Activities

  • With the large network of paths that hug the banks of Saint-Lawrence Estuary, the general public discovers, with our tour guides, a variety of forest and coastal environments set in breathtaking landscapes! Directly on the banks of the river, specially designed seawater pools offer a fascinating experience for observing sea urchins, starfish, anemones, and other unusual organisms. A pavilion promotes the observation of marine mammals.

  • On a 2hr+ guided tour, visitors discover an impressive fault that the Marguerite stream flows into. Alongside the St. Lawrence Estuary, they also explore Port-au-Saumon Bay and a multitude of forested and coastal environments. A unique experience in breathtaking scenery!
