Built in 1882 by blacksmith Joseph Cauchon, this historic forge and carpentry shop was once at the very heart of a tiny industrial hub that included a sawmill, a flour mill, a wool-carding mill, a shingling mill and a planing mill. It's a reminder of the major socio-economic role that blacksmiths and carpenters once played in rural communities of Quebec back at the end of the XIXth century and in the early XXth century. It is also a testimony to the artisans’ inventiveness and capacity to adapt themselves.
