Centre d’interprétation et d’observation de Pointe-Noire

About

Nestled in the cliff at the mouth of the fjord, the Pointe-Noire Interpretation and Observation Centre is a little hidden gem that offers a spectacular view of the Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park.

It is also the ideal place to picnic and observe marine mammals and birds in the company of a naturalist. Keep your eyes wide open! You might see beluga whales and minke whales, among others.

If you continue your journey towards the North Shore, discover the two other Parks Canada observation sites.

Activities

  • Discover the history of Pointe-Noire and the history behind the creation of the Saguenay–St. Lawrence Marine Park. Thanks to the lighthouse keepers and their assistants, the leading lights and the foghorn made waterways safe for all navigators. As you visit the exhibition, find out why scientists settled in Pointe-Noire to study beluga whales.

  • The naturalist will help you identify the species of whales, seals and birds you see from the shore.

  • Accompanied by a naturalist, spot whales on the horizon and discover their particularities and the reasons why the Saguenay−St. Lawrence Marine Park is one of the best places in the world to observe them. Keep your eyes wide open! Belugas and minke whales frequently pass through the area.

Great spot to spend a few hours watching the belugas. Recommend going to ask the viewpoints from the top to the bottom. It's colder by the sea but amazing views!
