The Gaylussacia trail was so named for a rare flower species in the Charlevoix region: the Gaylussacia or black huckleberry (Gaylussacia baccata) that blooms in summer. The plant is very sensitive to habitat alterations and is usually found in very wet areas, hence its scarcity. During the course of this 2-hour visit, you will familiarize yourself with the Boreal forest ecosystem and some survival techniques for nature and outdoors enthusiasts.
Access is at km 522.5 on route 138. The trail is accessible from June 24 to August 20.
It is always important to get information from the trail manager before going hiking.
