About

The Observatoire de l'Astroblème de Charlevoix is the only interpretation center dedicated to the famous meteoritic origin of the region. A scientific animator will guide you through an interactive experience, dotted with several spectacular samples of impactites from Charlevoix, with a superb 3D scale model of the region. We also own some meteorites that you will even take in your hands! A must for understanding the genesis of Charlevoix.
We also offer you the opportunity to go and discover some geological attractions of the area with a guide, or using your smartphone. Download the "Parcours géologique de Charlevoix" app turn the location service on and we wish you to have great discoveries !

  • Located in an exceptional heritage building with a spectacular view of the St. Lawrence River, it is the region’s only astronomy observatory open to the public. Activities are organized by le Centre d’études collégiales en Charlevoix (Cégep), in partnership with the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu and Le Casino de Charlevoix. The observatory hosts an interactive introductory presentation on astronomy with superb photographs, in the multimedia room. When skies are clear, we help you discover the moment’s most beautiful celestial objects with your own eyes. All day long, the observatory also offers observation of the Sun through an adapted telescope.

  • Take the opportunity to make an interplanetary journey, walking a trail located at the Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu (free admission) . Named " Strolling at the speed of light. This "stroll" is actually an educational path along the St-Lawrence river for a distance of three kilometers. We thus find a reproduction of the Sun at the trailhead, and all the other planets are placed at just the right distance from the sun so that it is faithful to reality . In addition to a scale replica of each planet, we find the locations an interpretation panel with bilingual background information. An aerial photo also allows visitors to figure out where they are in the path. A very nice family experiences to live!
