About
The Mont Eudore-Fortin trail is 8.1 km long and is part of the Traversée de Charlevoix entering the Mountain Sector at the heart of the World Biosphere Reserve. Of intermediate level, the trail will delight the seasoned cross-country skier who will discover some of Québec’s most beautiful natural paths. This path offers genuinely nice view on the Mont des Morios. As for the neighbouring paths, there is a fragile taiga scenery where lichens and Labrador tea grow.
This trail, inaugurated in the Fall of 2012, was designed by volunteers from the Club des Amis de la Traversée de Charlevoix. The Amis de la Traversée were looking for a long time to honour Mr. Eudore Fortin, the father of La Traversée de Charlevoix, and unofficially named this mountain « Mont Eudore-Fortin ». An honorary plaque was installed at the summit.
Access
From Baie-Saint-Paul, follow Route 138 East, then Route 381 North to the welcoming station at kilometer 10.6. The path starts at km 26.8 of route 381, take the Zec des Martres route for 4 km. The road is closed in winter, but the distance may be covered in snowshoes or skis. Accessible via a gravel forest road of 4 km.
Additional information
- Registration at the welcoming area is compulsory before going hiking;
- During the hunting season, it is mandatory to wear the orange vest and cap.
