Answers to your questions

Please find answers to the most frequent questions with reference to COVID-19. Tourisme Charlevoix recommends contacting the various tourism businesses you wish to visit to have accurate and timely information.

Until February 8 2021, please note that all non-essential businesses are closed and a curfew will be in effect between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

According to the system of regional alerts and staged intervention introduced by the government of Québec, where does the Charlevoix region stand? Charlevoix currently stands on stage 4, maximum alert, or red zone. Charlevoix’s tourist industry is committed to enforce the sanitary measures.

Is traveling to the Charlevoix region allowed? Interregional traveling is authorized but not recommended.

Where may I receive a COVID-19 screening test? To get tested for COVID-19, please go to the Centre de dépistage de Saint-Hilarion, located at 346 Route 138, Saint-Hilarion, Québec G0A 3V0. The clinic is open daily from 8:00 am to noon and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, with or without appointment.

I wish to cancel my reservation at an establishment in the Charlevoix region, will I get a refund? Cancellation policies are the responsibility of every company, Tourisme Charlevoix may not interfere in this type of situation. We kindly suggest that you contact the establishment directly using the contact details appearing on your reservation confirmation.

Are the welcoming and tourism information offices open? All our welcoming and tourism information centres are currently closed. You may however contact our tourist information specialists at +1 800 667-2276 or by email at the following address: info@tourisme-charlevoix.com.

Where are the accessible public washrooms? In Baie-Saint-Paul’s and La Malbaie’s shopping centers and most of the region’s convenience stores and gas stations. In Baie-Saint-Paul, at the Pro-Santé community center.


Activities and attractions

Are the restaurants open? No, restaurant dining rooms are closed. However, many restaurants in the region offer delivery, take out meals and drive-thru.

Are lodging establishments open and likely to welcome guests? Yes, the various lodging establishments are currently open. Your hosts are delighted to welcome you safely and in keeping with the utmost respect of all the sanitary measures

Is the Casino de Charlevoix open? The Casino de Charlevoix is currently closed.

What is important to know BEFORE going to one of the region’s national parks? Before leaving, is it MANDATORY to reserve your place on line and to use the virtual box-office to pay your access rights. The Acropole des Draveurs trail in the Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie is closed for the season.

What is important to know about the 2020 – 2021 downhill ski season? Before going to one of the region’s ski resorts, it is essential to purchase your daily tickets online. It is also strongly recommended to check the chart of sanitary instructions to safely ski according to the alert zones and details on the services provided. For all details, consult the Association des Stations de ski du Québec website.

What is important to know about the 2020 – 2021 snowmobiling season? All FCMQ clubs respect the guidelines and instructions issued by the government of Québec to offer a safe environment for snowmobilers. Charlevoix’s snowmobiling season will begin as soon as the conditions will allow it. It is strongly recommended to plan your stops and confirm that the establishments you wish to visit will be open. As for eating at the relays located in the red alert zone, some of them allow you to eat your lunch with your family while respecting the rules of distancing.

Wearing a mask

Is wearing a mask mandatory? In certain places, wearing a mask is required. It is mandatory in all enclosed public places.

I forgot to bring my mask, where can I get one in Charlevoix? Masks can be purchased in the region’s drugstores. Check the On s’équipe dans Charlevoix website to learn about the different locations where one may buy individual protective equipment.

Is wearing a mask mandatory on board the ferries in Québec? Yes, wearing a mask is compulsory for the Traverse Rivière-du-Loup/Saint-Siméon, the Traverse Tadoussac/Baie-Saint-Catherine and the Traverse l’Isle-aux-Coudres/Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive. You should have your mask on when boarding to gain access to the ferries.
