The museum space belonging to Les Petites Franciscaines de Marie spotlights the origins, history and evolution of a religious congregation whose beginnings can be traced back to the United States. The community has also prospered in Quebec, particularly here in Baie-Saint-Paul. Located on the premises of the nuns’ first place of residence, old Hospice Sainte-Anne, the museum’s permanent exhibit showcases the congregation’s most unusual journey from its beginnings in 1889, along with the history of its eleven founding sisters and its many charitable works. Also on display is a temporary exhibit featuring their contribution to the arts. A tour of the Sacred-Heart Chapel − a remarkable heritage treasure − is also offered. All the secrets about its construction and architecture, its artwork and history are revealed in an audio-guide. Visiting our museum space is an entertaining, spiritual and educational experience.
