Choeur polyphonique de Charlevoix

The Chœur polyphonique de Charlevoix is the only choir in the area devoted to the classical repertory without setting aside other music types. The resounding success of the Chœur polyphonique is closely connected to the choristers performance. The challenges set by Sylvain Landry, musical and artistic director, have been met with panache through a repertory worthy of the greatest choirs.

    December 9th 2017

The Choeur Polyphonique de Charlevoix, founded in 1997, has left a permanent mark in Charlevoix and elsewhere. For its 20th anniversary, the Choeur will link up with composer Ola Gjeilo who seems to write tailor-made music for the Charlevoix ensemble. Indeed, each time the Choeur Polyphonique de Charlevoix performs Gjeilo’s music, magic happens and resonant northern lights emanate from the ensemble of about fifty voices. Accompanied by a string orchestra, the Choeur will perform the Sunrise Mass and several other works by Ola Gjeilo. As a complement to the program, we offer Samuel Barber’s Agnus Dei, a 20th century vocal masterpiece that became famous in the 1986 movie Platoon and will be performed for the first time in Charlevoix. A not-to-be-missed rendezvous on December 9, 2017 at 8 pm in Domaine Forget’s François-Bernier concert hall.
