The Charlevoix Regional Tourist Association, also known as Tourisme Charlevoix, is a non-profit organization founded in 1975. It’s the only organization recognized by the Minister of Quebec Tourism that represents stakeholders and addresses tourism matters in the region. The association is also involved in numerous working committees within the Charlevoix region.

Role and responsibilities

  • Governance

    The governance of Tourisme Charlevoix maintains a balanced structure of member representation by a duly elected Board of directors. By referring to the Board of directors and its multi-sector committees, the operations of the organization are under the watch of elected volunteers, whose mandate is to ensure everything runs smoothly. This team of employees contributes collectively to improve & evolve tourism in Charlevoix.

  • Marketing

    The marketing department at Tourisme Charlevoix oversees the implementation of promotional and canvassing activities of markets both inside and outside Quebec. This department is responsible for deploying and assuring Charlevoix’s strategic marketing is aligned with the brand, various marketing campaigns and strategic alliances. It also manages an ever-evolving digital ecosystem, proactive public relations, and a continuous presence in the distribution network. It also focuses on beneficial opportunities for the region aimed at the corporate market.

  • Reception and information

    The reception and information department provides visitors (in person, by phone and by email) information on the region, making sure to promote Tourisme Charlevoix’s member businesses at every opportunity. It exclusively distributes member brochures in the reception and information centre, updates and distributes the official tourist guide of Charlevoix, and promotes touristic routes in the region. This direct contact with visitors makes it a key player in collecting tourist data.

  • Development of the regional tourist offering

    Regarding tourism development, the organization is first and foremost there to support tourism promoters in their development projects, providing them with available support tools. Tourism Charlevoix also manages development contracts for tourism offers in partnership with various collaborators. The department also lends its expertise to various consulting and working groups as representative of the tourism industry in various regional issues.  What’s more, Tourisme Charlevoix helps structure the tourist offering by acting as a consultant to key industry players to increase the network of stakeholders and enhance the development of targeted tourist products.

  • Strategic Expertise

    The Strategy Department is responsible for collecting, analyzing and interpreting data and information either directly or indirectly linked to the Charlevoix tourism industry. The findings are then presented to departments, partners and members to help them make informed decisions based on relevant data.

  • Tourism workforce

    Tourisme Charlevoix acts as a representative in the “tourism workforce” intervention field in order to represent the Charlevoix tourism industry in different forums to help find solutions to the labour shortage problem.

  • Communications and member services

    In terms of communications, Tourisme Charlevoix provides both internal and external communications services to the organizations, its members, media, partners and the public in order to maintain an active presence and offer the best service possible.

  • Sustainable tourism

    Tourisme Charlevoix is involved in making Charlevoix an eco-responsible destination with the goal of emerging as a leader in this area to propel this collective shift. Sustainable development is one of the main priorities in the 2023-2027 strategic development plan, which was kicked off by creating and filling a new sustainable advisor position in the summer of 2022.

The new Charlevoix brand positioning evokes the region’s powerful, magnetic attraction, which was created by an epic meteorite impact some 400 million years ago. This powerful energy allows visitors to reconnect and recharge like nowhere else. It’s a place to reconnect.
