Katabatik - Aventure dans Charlevoix is dedicated to offering outdoor discovery activities specializing in adventure and ecotourism in the Charlevoix region. Activities extend to the following territories: The Charlevoix coastline, the Saguenay - St. Lawrence Marine Park, the Charlevoix World Biosphere Reserve, Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie National Park, Rivière du Gouffre in Baie-Saint-Paul and Baie des Rochers Municipal Park.

 

Activities Offered: 

  • Recreational kayaking down Rivière du Gouffre, in Baie-Saint-Paul (open to all; includes kayak    & shutlle);
  • Sea kayaking on the St. Lawrence estuary (short outings; kayak camping expeditions; winter/spring kayak adventures);
  • Canyoning down Rivière du Moulin falls, in Baie-Saint-Paul;
  • Paragliding (tandem flights);
  • Bicycle rentals: Baie-Saint-Paul; La Malbaie.

 

Katabatik – Aventure dans Charlevoix is also synonymous with:

• Birding  and marine mammal observation;

• Interpretation of the maritime environment, in both French and English;

• A professional, safety-first approach;

• Top of the line kayaks, equipment and outerwear (provided);

• A fleet of 50 sea kayaks: 20 tandems, 30 solos;

• A fleet of 55 recreational kayaks: 20 tandems, 35 solos;

• Winter sea kayaking adventures: Every weekend in March, April.

 

Two permanent base camps: Baie-Saint-Paul Pier, on Rue Saint-Anne; Saint-Irénée Beach, at Le Père d’Antoine on Route 362.

Other sites of operation: Eastern point of Isle-aux-Coudres; Cap-à-l’Aigle Marina; Baie-des-Rochers Pier.

Schedule: Rentals & Boutique: Open daily, June - early September; weekends in May, September & October. Reservations & Information: Open year-round.

 

Our mission is a pledge to sustainable development:

  • Ours is a zero-footprint fleet of 105 human-powered pleasure crafts, with 25 bicycles for exploring Charlevoix’s wilderness reaches and coastal territories;
  • Half our kayak fleet is constructed of wood, a material that lends itself well to regular maintenance and upgrade programmes;
  • We use biodegradable products on all daily equipment maintenance;
  • Safe shuttles convey clients to their departure points;
  • We generate stimulating and structured employment for 15 persons in the region, with training in ecotourism and adventure tourism;
  • We offer our expertise in nautical and tourist operations on regional and provincial committees;

We accompany over 5,000 adventure seekers annually on sustainable activities (aka: in the great outdoors!).
