Musée de Charlevoix
|
Since 1975, Le Musée de Charlevoix has conserved, studied and spotlighted Charlevoix's historical, artistic and ethnological heritages. The region's history and culture are presented alongside works by leading artists from different generations. A must to better understand the region is the museum's permanent exhibit entitled Appartenances, which explores Charlevoix's history, art and heritage through ancient objects and pieces chosen from among its own collection. From June 13 2010 to May 15 2011, the museum commemorates the 30th anniversary of one of Québec's most popular television series, with and exhibit entitled Le Temps d'une Paix - l'exposition. Explore the set behind the scenes, discover the cast, stroyline, Charlevoix shooting locations and much more. The creation of Pierre Gauvreau, a supporter of Global Refusal (Le Refus global), Le Temps d'une Paix plunges us into nostalgia while showing how Charlevoix and all of Québec stepped forward into modem times during the post World War I /pre-World War II era. The museum mezzanine features two-month long exhibits on select artists, groups of artists, organizations of Charlevoix themes. Gallery Boutique offersa cornucopia of gift ideas: books, works of art, crafts, regional products, cards, etc. Its outdoor terrace boasts unparalleled mountain vistas, and a view of the majestic St-Lawrence River.
