For decades the preferred lodging plan among certain Quebecers, in Charlevoix’s tourism heyday B & Bs - known as lodging chez l’habitant among French-speaking Europeans, or as gîtes du passant among fellow Québécois - lavished family-style comforts in a country setting.
Featuring less than 5 rooms, these private residences offer an intimate setting and attentive service, such as breakfast often lovingly put together by resident hosts. B & Bs are rated 1- to 5-stars. Not only do owners provide a wealth of information about the region’s attractions and activities, they will also make it a pleasure to point out local sites and scenery.
