Observatoire astronomique de Charlevoix

About

Spend the evening with your head in the stars – rain or shine! The only astronomical observatory open to the general public in the region offers activities every summer evening. Indoor astronomy discovery, followed by starry sky observations from our terrace, via live astrophotography when weather conditions are good. Arrive at 8:30 p.m., from June 27 to July 31, and at 8:00 p.m., from August 1 to September 1st. If the weather conditions are poor, the activity will take place indoors. RESERVATIONS REQUIRED.

Activities

  • Located in an exceptional heritage building with a spectacular view of the St. Lawrence River, it is the region’s only astronomy observatory open to the public. Activities are organized by the Centre d’études collégiales en Charlevoix (Cégep), in partnership with Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu. The observatory hosts an interactive introductory presentation on astronomy with superb photographs, in the multimedia room. When skies are clear, we help you discover the most beautiful celestial objects, with your own eyes. It is also an opportunity to go on an interplanetary journey with our solar system trail, located at Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu. Great family moments ahead!

  • Situé dans un bâtiment historique avec une vue spectaculaire sur le fleuve Saint-Laurent, c’est le seul observatoire astronomique ouvert au public dans la région. Les activités de l’observatoire sont organisées par le Centre d’études collégiales en Charlevoix (Cégep), en partenariat avec Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu. Ces activités comprennent des présentations interactives d’introduction à l’astronomie, mettant en vedette nos superbes photographies, dans notre salle multimédia. De plus, lorsque le ciel est dégagé, on vous fait découvrir de vos propres yeux les plus beaux objets célestes du moment. Envie de bouger? Saisissez l’occasion de faire un voyage interplanétaire, en parcourant notre modèle à l’échelle du système solaire, situé au Fairmont Le Manoir Richelieu (entrée libre).     Visit in the evening and have a look at Jupiter and Saturn. Or see a 5000 star cloud. We enjoyed it. Make sure you bring a jacket, it can get cold.
