Maison Du Bootlegger

About

La Maison du Bootlegger dates back to 1860, a former “Speakeasy” from the time of prohibition. Recognized for its original concept where we offer you an unforgettable evening consisting of a guided tour of the secret labyrinth. Savor our succulent grilled meats sprinkled with Bootlegger spices, grilled exactly to your taste in a charcoal pit flavored with hickory chips and served with our Backfire sauce. Everything is followed by a Rock & Roll show with the Bootlegger House Band.

A rural atmosphere… Pleasure guaranteed!

Lodging

  • Located in the heart of Sainte-Agnès, 2 kilometres from La Maison du Bootlegger, with shuttle service, the presbytery continues it's journey through time. This historical site has a total of 11 rooms all with a hint of artistic grace tracing singer Joey Tardif. The current bulding was constructed in 1903 to replace the old one lost to fire in the same year. Open all year around to group up to 36 travellers.

Activities

  • La Maison du Bootlegger is an event not to be missed. During the day... we offer you a fun getaway in a setting that has a lot to say. A guided tour of the secret labyrinth. Lunch service. Bar service. In the evening... everything turns into a supper club where we compose with the joy of living, the delicacies of the table, a guided tour of the secret labyrinth and an intoxicating Rock & Roll show to the sound of the Bootlegger House Band. Our band offers you a 2-hour show without intermission. Rockabilly, rock & roll and alternative style at their best! An electrifying evening where the expression « surviving the Maison du Bootlegger » takes on its true significance when changing into a dance club where people have fun and dance and alcohol flows freely just like during the Prohibition days.

  • Relive the Bootlegger experience at home! Our artisanal production of exceptional quality as well as our products, which are all gluten-free and Québec food certified, will make your daily meals more « unlawful » with every bite.

  • In 1878, Canada voted the Prohibition law forbidding the sale of alcohol. Each Québec county would vote to authorize or not the sale of alcohol…Underground bars, also known as Speakeasies, opened their doors. In 1940, an American opened the Club des Monts, officially a hunting club, with secrete rooms linked through a Labyrinth of narrow corridors, where you can even find a dedication by Elvis Presley. Alcohol was served and consumed illegally until 1964 when it finally became legal. This place today has become La Maison du Bootlegger. At night, it becomes a supper club.

  • Upon arrival, the visitor is introduced to the mystery of the first secret staircase leading to the “Speakeasy” in the attic, he must first descend to better ascend. The day we offer a guided tour of 50 minutes and in the evening a visit guided tour lasting 25 minutes will be offered before, during or after your meal. Small home bites are available on request as well as bar service.

    On reservation.
