Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie National Park (SEPAQ)
The Parc national des Hautes-Gorges-de-la-Rivière-Malbaie constitutes one of Québec’s most lovely territories. The river meanders between one of the highest rocky faces east of the Canadian Rockies, and visitors are seduced by the spectacular scenery there to be discovered. Whether by bateau-mouche, canoe, kayak, rabaska, bicycle or on foot, the park unfurls a long list of activities to suit every type of clientele, from the very fittest to the most contemplative. The famous trail called Sentier de l’Acropole des Draveurs leads to the summit of the park’s tallest peak (1,048 m), and reveals rare Arctic alpine vegetation and an exceptional 360˚ landscape for all to admire. Involving a more moderate physical effort, a new trail called Sentier du Riverain gives hikers the opportunity to discover just as impressive views. The discovery cruise aboard the bateau-mouche, which lasts about 1.5 hours, is another of the park’s leading attractions. For the curious, a team of passionate park rangers invites visitors to take part in discovery activities explaining the park’s fauna, flora, geology and history. Completing the experience, the following services are also offered: campsites (unserviced or rustic), equipment rentals, a food service and a convenience store. This visit is an absolute must!
